(0) David was a normal muggle. He had blonde hair and kept his head straight up through any challenge. He was short for his age. He was twelve, and despite how much he LOOKED bad, he had skipped a grade. He had lots of friends. He loved Kings cross train station more than any other local place. There was something he was desperate to find out about... "Hey, Davey," yelled the older tenth-grader bullies "Dare ya to go to Kings cross at night!" (6) Then, suddenly the bully pushed him into the wall between Platform 9 and 10. He wented right through it! "All aboard " the conductor yelled. " Now you don't want to miss the train to Hogwarts." said a strange woman. He was dragged on to the train. It was filled with children! He realized that the doors were shut! He couldn't get out! (8) "Move it," grumbled a voice behind him. It was Malfoy. "Or would you like my friends to escort you out of the way?" Crabbe and Goyle grabbed David with a firm grip and dragged him across the floor and flung him into the train. He lay there for a while, speechless. Then he got up, rubbed one of the bruises he had just gotten and took a seat in the back of the train. Everyone stared at him like he was a lunatic. He even heard someone snicker the word, "muggle". A prefect came in with an inflamatory expression on his face. "What in heaven's name is going on in here?" That's when David knew he was in trouble. (13) David gulped. "Yes," He choked. "As a matter-of-fact...I am." There was an empty seat next to him, so he sat there, and slipped his backpack under the seat. He decided to find out what was going on. Hermione, who sat closest to the window, said, "We might as well be putting on our robes. I'll be leaving you two alone for a little while." Then, she got of the seat, and walked to the front of the cart, where she sat down. David's face turned pale. "Robes?" He uttered. "You've got to be kidding me!" Ron and Harry exchanged glances. (14) David was a rather practical guy.He prided himself on this inportant fact.He liked to take things apart and see how they worked,and if he couldn't he really didn't want to be bothered with it.It ceased to make him interisted,no matter how shocking it was.He went through most of the train ride to Hogwarts in silence with no idea how much of a strain this shock would put on his belifs.Harry Ron & Hermione sensing this shook their heads in sympathy. Ron put the bean in his mouth. suddenley his face turn white and he started to choke. "I'm, sorry - wha... what happend? is it beacuse of me? i'm really sorry, I didn't mean to - " David said, looking at Ron. Ron swallowed the bean and smiled. "Don't worry, It's just a Berty-Bott's bean... I got a really ugly one this time... I think it's... oh, yac - sweaty socks flavour..." "Excuse me?" Said David. "What do you mean 'sweaty socks flavour'? what is it all about?" Harry and Ron looked at each other. (16) As the Hogwarts Express rumbled along.Closer and closer to Hogwarts,Daid refused to say anything after the boy named Harry and his two friends had told him all the rubbish about where the train was heading.David shook his head in annoyance and leaned back agaist his seat,resting his head against the compartment walls.All of a sudden the train gave a mighty lurch and seemed to swerve and buck like a thing possesed.The girl with the bushy brown hair and brown eyes,staggered over to the window holding on to things to stay on her feet.She looked out the window and David felt his stomach give a little twist of forbodding as her face went pale with fear."Oh God...I think u guys better look at this." David stayed in is seat as the two boys rushed to her.the red-heads eyes widened in shock."You don't see that everyday," And then "BLODDY HELL WHAT ARE THEY DOING OUT THERE!!!" (20) Wait, wait...what the heck is going on? Let's step back a few steps. When David looked out the window, he saw a big castle-type building. "Wow," he gasped. "I've never seen a building like that!" Harry and Ron exchanged glances. "What's wrong?" David asked. They looked around, then whispered, "Muggles aren't supposed to be able to see-" Before Harry could finish, Hermione screamed, "Look at the tracks!" About 70 meters ahead, the tracks led into grass, and then into a lake. The building that the train pulled into was a mile or so to the left. David put his hands over his eyes. When he opened them, he could see a swirling vortex of all kinds of colors. The train and everyone in it were still there. "We're apparating!" Hermione cried. David fainted. (21) "David," Someone said. "David, wake up!" It was Ron. He, Harry, Hermione, and a very large man were leaning over him. He sat up. He was in a small boat. "Thank god yer okay." The man said, gruffly. "One time, I 'ad a kid that trid apparatin' without knowin' 'ow! Vomited ev'rywhere 'e did!" David groaned. "That's Hagrid." Harry explained. "Might look a little scary, but is real nice." Hagrid smiled. "How d'ya do, David?" he laughed. "F-Fine." David sighed. In a few hours David fell asleep again. (22) "David," Hermione said. "Wake up. We're here." The children made their way into the large castle, wher they sat down. "I realize that there are children to be sorted," a woman at the front said. "So let's begin." She put a hat onto a stool. "Griffyndors are daring, Slytherins are clever, Hufflepuffs are caring, Ravenclaws fall never." David looked around. "Where did that come from?" Harry laghed. "The Hat!" he explained. "Wattsworth, Henry!" The woman in the front called. A boy walked to her, sat on the stool, and put the hat on. David was taken by surprise when he heard the hat say, "RAVENCLAW!" Then the boy sat back down. "Mason, Yolanda!" The woman said, as a girl walked up to the hat. "HUFFLEPUFF!" It cried. She sat down. "Smith , David!" David's eyes opened wide with fright. He turned to Harry, who shrugged. He stood up and stumbled to the front. Then with shaky hands, he put the hat on. "Muggle!" The hat cried. People gasped. Some screamed. "But, wait! I can see lots of power...yes lots...very noble, very brave...yes, yes...Gryffindor!" David made his way slowly to where Harry and Ron were sitting. (23) harry and ron were still his friends.anyway.suprisingly seamus had been expelled (since he began tormenting house elves) so little davy got his bed. the next day as davy woke up he noticed a dark figure with a wand pointing towards his neck. the man said 'muggle you will know the secret of magic... ill teach you.DIE!... (24) David grabbed the wand and threw it across the room. He grabbed the figure and forced it onto the ground. It was Malfoy. "What is happening here?!" screeched Percy. (25) Percy circled around Malfoy like a vulture who had a hunger for answers. "How did you get in?" He said. Malfoy sighed. "I dont know," he muttered. "I was in my house dormitory trying to sleep, but I saw a strange figure next to my bed...then I was on the ground in here!" Percy laughed. "A likely story, Malfoy." Then a voice rang out that said, "I believe him." It was David. Everyone who had crowded around Percy and Malfoy stared at him. There was a long, sustended silence, up until someone said, "Shut-up, muggle." David's eyes almost burst out of his head. It wasn't anyone David even knew! Harry gasped, Hermione bent her head down, and Ron's face went a very deep shade of red. There was another long period of silence, until Ron started breathing heavily. (26) "Ron!" Hermione cried out. "Don't!" Ron kept on pounding and pounding. "Ron!" Harry yelled. "Snap out of it!" Ron stopped suddenly and stood up. He seemed to be in a daze. "What happened?" he asked. "What hppened! What happened! You practically killed this kid, that's what happened!" Hermione screamed. "Hermione, Ron seems to be, well, not right." Harry said quietly. "We need to get him some help." "That's right. Mental help." Hermione said. But she got up and helped Harry lead Ron to the common room.Ron fell in a deeep sleep. "Ron? Ron? Are you okay?" aksed a faraway voice. Ron rubbed his eyes as the figure came into focus. "Ron! You're all right!" The figure cried out. The figure seemed to be a girl....with frizzy hair..but Ron couldn't remember who it was...he had a creepy feeling that he knew this girl, but he couldn't remember her name...."Ron!" the girl cried again."It's Hermione. Harry has been worried sick about you." Harry, Ron thought, Who's Harry. This name, like the girl had a familiar ring to it, but he still couldn't remember."Who are you?" Ron asked groggily. "Ron, it's not time to play games. David is in trouble. "David? Who's David?" "The kid who you and Harry brought here." "Harry? Who's Harry?" Ron asked, sitting up. Hermione groaned. Why me? Why me? she thought. Why do I have to be stuck with a prank-loving boy who pretends he doesn't know his best friend's name when David is in trouble? Why? (27) The next day, Harry, Hermione, and David went to charms class while Ron was being treated by Madame Pomfrey at the nurse's office (It seemed he had a bad case of amnesia, probably a memory curse). In Proffesor Flitwick's class, they were learning about the history of memory charms. They had learned how to cure memory charms, and how to prevent them. "The first memory charm," Proffesor Flitwick announced. "Was invented in 1691, when-" He was interrupted by a slam of doors, where Snape came in. But it wasn't an evil look he had on his face...it was a worried one. "We have an emergency." he choked. "All proffesors head to Dumbledore's office. All children will follow the prefects to their houses." Everyone ran out the door and scurried to where they were going to go. But David headed elsewhere. He wanted to find out what was going on. So, one day, David packed up some food, sleeping stuff, and a flashlight and went into a bathroom at the station to wait for King's Cross to close. His sister, Beth, was with him. He had told her about his plan. "The boys bathroom is kind of nice,"said Beth, sitting on top on a toilet. "Oh,"said David, listening. "I think I hear the guard leaving." David and Beth scooted off of their toilets and switched on their flashlights. "I like this place," said David as he looked around at the high ceiling."It is pretty," said Beth. David shined his flashlight around the floor. David saw two circles of light shining at him and held the flashlight steady. "Hi," said David to the cat. Beth looks around and sees the cat and says,"Hi cat." Beth shines her light away and starts looking at the train tracks. "I had a good breakfast this morning," Beth says to David."I ate French toast with syrup." "I had cornbread and a poptart," says David, looking around at the walls. David shines his light at one of barriers. All of the sudden, a brown cat walks out of the barrier. "Meow," it says. "Whoa, cool!" says David as the brown cat walks off to join the other cat.
